It was a beautiful day with lots of birds visiting the bird feeders. I think we have every kind of hummingbird at our feeders, and today we saw a male and female pair of purple finches on the sunflower seed feeder. We took the pups on a geocache, and we found our 201st cache. This was a lovely walk through the woods, which are amazingly thick and verdant at the moment. This year we seem to be the Seattle of the East! As we drove out of the woods, a bear cub ran across the road in front of us. We hope the campers in the park don't meet up with the bear later on. I read a review of a book called Kiss My Math, which is geared toward girls studying (and perhaps struggling with) pre-algebra. This is something to look into...I think we'll try this out with some of our students this year and see if it helps them connect to the subject. For dinner, on 4th of July, we had to have burgers. Tonight, I made chipotle BBQ burgers with sour cream slaw, and they were terrific. The pups were a bit freaked-out by the fireworks in the background, even with the waterfall covering their sound.

  1. Gosh, Sharon, I am the first to follow and perhaps the first to post. John is rivaling you for wildlife as he has sent picutres of the baby pileated woodpecker that is living nearby.

I love Preety's comment about kiss my math.

It isnt the bear cub they have to worry about - it's mama close behind!
    Hope this works
